Frequently Asked Questions

  • We do not accept insurance, which means you’re responsible to pay before or at time of visit. We accept cash/debit/credit card and may be able to accept your HSA/FSA. If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide you a superbill that you may be able to submit to your insurance company for direct reimbursement. (FYI: a superbill is a document that has all the information your insurance would need to reimburse you, if they offer reimbursement. We would email this to you and you would send it to them.) Please check with your insurance company to fully understand what your out-of-network coverage for physical therapy would be and get an estimate of what you’d be reimbursed. Do this prior to your first visit.

    1. Does your insurance company require any authorization or referral from another medical professional in order for this to be reimbursed.

    2. Which ICD-10 Codes are covered/reimbursable and which are not covered/reimbursable? (FYI: ICD-10 codes are Diagnosis Codes. Physical Therapists use these when documenting the issue you’re coming in for.)

    3. Which CPT Codes are covered/reimbursable and which are not covered/reimbursable? (FYI: CPT Codes are Treatment Codes. Physical Therapists use these when documenting the type of treatment performed with you.)

    4. Is your out-of-network deductible different from your in-network deductible? How much of that deductible has already been met?

    5. What % is your responsibility before and after your deductible has been met?

    6. What is your annual visit limit for out-of-network services? Is there an annual visit limit specifically for out-of-network Physical Therapy services?

With this information, you should be able to get an idea if, or how much, your insurance company will reimburse you, after your visit/s with us.

  • Nope! We can see you straight away! But, if you are planning to ask your insurance to potentially reimburse you, it would be a good idea to get a referral from your medical doctor. Insurance loves that stuff. Just bring it with you to your first appointment or email it over to us.

  • Your first visit aka your initial evaluation (and follow-ups) are always 1-on-1 with your physical therapist. We will:

    1. Assess the Root Cause
We’ll perform a thorough hands-on assessment of your mobility, strength, and movement patterns to identify the underlying issue.

    2. Relieve Pain and Build Strength
Through hands-on bodywork, movement retraining, and activity-specific exercises, we’ll start working toward reducing your pain, improving your mobility, and getting you moving better and stronger—setting the foundation for long-term progress.

    3. Plan it out At the end of the session, we'll decide on a plan of attack. When and how often to come in and you'll get homework to do until your next visit.

    4. THRIVE
During follow-up visits, we’ll advance your strength, mobility, and performance training and practice real-life situations. You’ll also learn strategies to prevent future issues so you can move with confidence and THRIVE!

  • We’re tucked into the corner of 5th and Kalmia, with entrance on Kalmia. Our address is 2389 5th Ave, San Diego, CA 92101 BUT sometimes putting in the address of the Imperial Steakhouse restaurant next door works better. Their address is 505 Kalmia St. San Diego, CA 92101. We are on Kalmia, between 5th and 6th, tucked back in to the corner closer to 5th street, to the right of Imperial Steakhouse.

  • We have two marked parking spots right in front of our office. There is also a parking lot across the street where you use your phone to pay, and metered and unmetered street parking.

  • Something comfy and easily accessible to the area(s) we’ll be working on. Shorts work better than leggings and an open neck line works better than regular T-Shirt neck line. But, you do you and wear what you’re comfortable in! You can also bring clothes to change in to when you get here.

  • Of course! We do not have child care here, but we can play pass the baby if you’re comfortable with that! They may take up some of your time and attention during the session, but that is up to you!
